Lisa Parsons, MD

Dr. Parsons received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University where she graduated summa cum laude. She then went to Medical School at Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan. From there, she did her Internship and Psychiatric Residency at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix Arizona. Dr. Parsons went on to work at Banner Thunderbird Hospital doing Consult Liason work on the medical floors, ER and psychiatric ER as well as working on the inpatient psychiatric unit. She them Moved to Prescott Arizona and become Medical Director at a large community mental health center called West Yavapai Guidance Clinic.

All of this experience lead Dr. Parsons to the understanding that Psychiatric illness including Substance Use Disorders is much more than a brain disorder and treatment needs to include the whole person. This lead her on a quest to understand additional causes of illness and search for holistic treatments. She received a certification from “Integrative Medicine for Mental Health” and has continued to expand her knowledge with them. She has collaborated with colleagues in the community and across the country that are experienced in this type of medicine. She is working toward certification in functional medicine approaches to treatment through the ‘Integrative Medicine Academy’.

All of this experience has led to her to starting her private practice called Integrative Core Wellness where she practices Integrative Psychiatry, combining Western Medicine, Eastern Medicine and Functional Medicine approaches to illness and treatment.

As her understanding of the holistic/alternative literature and research grows, her potential to help people effect positive change in their lives has grown as well. While she has always felt a call to medicine, this expanded treatment repertoire has enhanced that call and deepened her gratitude for being a part of positive change.
